“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.“The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is [a]clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is [b]bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and [c]wealth.
“For this reason I say to you, [d]do not be worried about your [e]life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the [f]air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single [g]hour to his [h]life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But [i]seek first [j]His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be [k]added to you.
“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will [l]care for itself. [m]Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Seek God first.
Don't focus on the details, the mundane details.
Do start putting God first at the beginning of the day takes training because we want and need to do it. Anything we do on a regular basis needed time to establish itself. Mom reminding you to brush your teeth twice a day -- hopefully as an adult you now do this on your own. Washing your face, bathing, etc -- all of these don't come natural to children and many teens, but most adults do them because they've been trained to do them. And eventually they liked these practices.
The same can happen with putting God first from our first breath in the morning till our last at night.
It's a discipline to seek God and it can be challenging because we might not want to hear what God has to say to us.
Deuteronomy 4:29, "But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul."
It's not hard to find God.
Your expectations will meet your effort.
We need to put into our faith if we want to get anything out of it.
Psalm 63:1, "O God, Thou art my God; I shall see Thee earnestly; My soul thirsts for Thee, my flesh yearns for Thee, In a dry and weary land where there is no water."
Seek the Lord because you love Him.
If we're seeking something we're workin for it.
"If you don't make up your mind, your mind will unmake you." E. Stanley Jones
Psalm 14:2, "The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God."
God is seeking us. He is waiting for us. Diligently God seeks us. God wants us to seek Him. "Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you."
We need to seek before God has to get our attention
Psalm 78:34, "When He killed them, then they sought Him, And returned and searched diligently for God;"
God had to make a radical change so they would come back. God loves those He disciplines. He'll give us a reason to come back. God wants every single one of us. He is a good Father. Heaven or hell. The end result -- be with Him or be without Him. There's nothing else, no other choice.
Just say, "This is how I start my day. I seek God first"
Then, do it.
If you're a writer write it down.
Do what you need to do to remind yourself to seek God first. Find a way to remind yourself until it has become such a deep part of your routine you will miss it if you don't seek God.
Satan just needs to distract us. And he knows how to do this well.
Open your mind and heart up to God and seeking Him first.
