What is the result if we walk down this road in belief?
"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith[b] into this grace in which we stand, and we[c] rejoice[d] in hope of the glory of God." Romans 5:1-2
We have been bought and paid for. So what do we get?
1. Peace with God!
sin=war with God
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." John 3:36
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.[a]" Romans 8:1
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God," Ephesians 2:8
We go from being full sinners to full peace with God!
"Christ didn’t give His life for you just to start the Christian life. He gave His life so that you would finish it and finish it well. You will do so if you guard yourself from spiritual error, grow in the grace and knowledge of Him, and live to glorify his name." Pastor Steven J. Cole to glorify His name.
We get total amnesty.
2. Lord Jesus Christ. Lord=Sovereign authority we submit to
"yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist." 1 Corinthians 8:6
Jesus - fully human (and fully God), lived a life of perfection to become a perfect sacrifice.
"and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." Romans 3:24-26
Christ=Prophet, Priest, King
Christ (Greek) Messian (Hebrew) Means anointed one.
Prophet: "Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father[a] who sent me. 17 In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true." John 8:16-17
Everything Jesus said has come true or will come true. He was and is a prophet (but more than a prophet).
Priest: "but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. 25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost[a] those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
26 For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. 28 For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever." Hebrews 7:24-28
King:
"From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule[a] them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty." Revelation 19:15
He is the King of Kings!
"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith[b] into this grace in which we stand, and we[c] rejoice[d] in hope of the glory of God." Romans 5:1-2
#3 Access to God
12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him." Ephesians 3:12
"Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be[a] against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.[b] 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?" Romans 8:31-35
It is finished!
"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
