#1 The Grace of God brings salvation.
"For the grace of God has appeared, [a]bringing salvation to all men," Titus 2:11
None of us could give grace to all people. He gives grace to all.
The sin in us will separate us from God.
"In [a]Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace" Ephesians 1:7
"By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin."
Hebrews 11:24-25
Sin is a corruption of God's gifts. Example -- dopamine, the chemical in the brain that gives pleasure, is a gift of God. Addiction -- a person is trying to force the dopamine to go into action. Anything to excess is corrupting God's gift. Nothing with a hobby that brings you great joy. But if it takes you away from God, it's a problem.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and [a]wealth." Matthew 6:24
Sin twists us. God has yeses and nos. Sin is sin.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
#2 The Grace of God teaches us how to live.
"instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age," Titus 2:12
God will guide us using His word.
We learn "no" is said by God sometimes -- always a blessing. It is necessary to train us.
"My son, do not reject the [a]discipline of the Lord
Or loathe His reproof,
12 For whom the Lord loves He reproves,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights." Proverbs 3:11-12
"Therefore [a]consider the members of your earthly body as dead to [b]immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which [c]amounts to idolatry. 6 For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come [d]upon the sons of disobedience, 7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living [e]in them. 8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. 9 [f]Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old [g]self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new self who is being [h]renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—" Colossians 3:5-10
Our human nature can still overwhelm us. God's word can help with this.
Be content in God's grace. He gives us what we need.
#3. The Grace of God gives hope.
"looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of [a]our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds." Titus 2:13-14
We need to portray this hope.
Don't take blessings and make them into curses.
Hope has to be based on the word of God.
Jesus must be number one.
"But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all [a]sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." 1 Timothy 6:9-10
"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich." 2 Corinthians 8:9
Is there something separating you from the grace of God?
How grateful are we for it?
