He speaks to the father. Jesus asks him how long had this been going on -- this was unusual. This is the only time Jesus asked the background. This father very likely had been praying for his boy his whole life -- probably had given up anything would change. Satan loves to oppress our faith, dampen it with doubt and discouragement.
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1
Faith is confidence. Confidence that God is working on our behalf. Always.
22 And whatever you ask in prayer, if you believe,[a] you will receive.” Matthew 21:22
"Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." Hebrews 11:6
We gotta believe God is working on our behalf. We gotta believe He gives us what we need. He loves to answer our prayers. He doesn't withhold anything from us that is for our best.
Faith is simple but it isn't automatic or easy.
You have to work out your faith. The more you work it the stronger it gets. Give it muscle!
"Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word[a] of Christ.[b]" Romans 10:17
28 And we know that all things work together[a] for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose," Romans 8:28
We can have certainty in God. God is working for me right now. For you right now. God said it and that's it. The Word Creates. God's word creates. God creates from nothing! Each of us is born with potential and talents and possibilities -- God wants us to use all He has given us for His kingdom, for Him and others. To build each other up!
God's desire is for us to look like Him on the inside. What' stopping us from being bold? A lack of faith.
If God calls you to do something, don't wait. Just do it.
Find Confidence. Find His Will. Add to your faith.
4 Through these things[a] he has bestowed on us his precious and most magnificent promises, so that by means of what was promised[b] you may become partakers of the divine nature,[c] after escaping[d] the worldly corruption that is produced by evil desire.[e] 5 For this very reason,[f] make every effort[g] to add to your faith excellence,[h] to excellence, knowledge; 6 to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance;[i] to perseverance, godliness; 7 to godliness, brotherly affection; to brotherly affection, unselfish[j] love.[k]"
2 Peter 2:4-7
Love is a process.
Go through all the steps -- (see 2 Peter 2:4-7)
18 And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord,[a] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another,[b] which is from[c] the Lord, who is the Spirit.[d]" 2 Corinthians 3:18
God will give you something every time you read the Bible -- something new about Him. God is at work right here, right now. He is always working.
“For God speaks, the first time in one way,
the second time in another,
though a person does not perceive[a] it." Job 33:14
17 So he told them, “My Father is working until now, and I too am working.” John 5:17
Our Father in heaven is working.
13 for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort—for the sake of his good pleasure—is God." Philippians 2:13
Be like your Father.
Don't wait until you feel ready. Go now. God wants us to reflect Him from the inside.
58 So then, dear brothers and sisters,[a] be firm. Do not be moved! Always be outstanding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 15:58
